On TechNewsWorld: Smart Lighting with Philips

This spring, Philips Lighting unveiled its new, biological smart lighting: Hue white ambiance connected light bulbs. According to Philips, these  "inspired by the sun" connected lights gradually brighten and darken to help users wake up and drift to sleep more peacefully.

These LED smart white light bulbs don't offer the changing color of some of Philips other smart light options; however, this Hue bulb is a tunable light, a major step in lighting solutions that varies not only in intensity, but also in color temperature. They're designed to change temperature throughout the day, helping to align home lighting with the body's natural circadian rhythms and improve wake/sleep cycles. It can deliver every shade of white light, ranging from cool daylight (6500k) to warm white (2200k) and can be adjusted via a connected dimmer switch. With their app, Philips also offers access to what they call "light recipes," helping you feel anywhere from energized to relaxed throughout the day. Like many connected objects, you can program Philips smart lighting to different routines throughout the day, setting the scene appropriately for activities such as working, relaxing, exercising, or reading. “Light impacts us both physically and emotionally, we experience this every day when waking up and going to sleep,”

“Light impacts us both physically and emotionally, we experience this every day when waking up and going to sleep,” says Chris Worp, Leader of Philips home lighting business. “With Philips Hue white ambiance, we want to give people control of the impact that white light has on their wellbeing at home, particularly around day to day routines. By having every shade of white light at your fingertips, you can choose the perfect light you need to feel better, whether you want an energizing light for exercising or a dimmed night light for winding down to sleep.”
