From SiLabs: Wireless Tech & Connected Lighting

In this blog post, SiLabs weighs the pros and cons of communicating with connected lighting over different wireless technologies. Wi-Fi requires lots of existing memory and may limit how many lights can connect via a single network. Bluetooth, while increasingly popular, is limited by distance and also restricts the number of connected lights it can work with.

Zigbee is a type of wireless tech known as a local area network (LAN). and it allows users to connect hundreds of lights to a single network. Using Zigbee, a user can program lights to change color, temperature, and brightness instantaneously.
